Armed Robbery
On 12/19/2011, The Bates County Sheriff's Office received a call from
Happy Go Lucky in Adrian in reference to an armed robbery that had just
occurred. Deputies arrived on scene and began to request assistance from
Adrian Police Department and Missouri State Highway Patrol. Additional
investigators were called out to begin an extensive manhunt to attempt to locate
the subject.
The suspect entered the store with a hoodie covering his face and
demanded several objects from the teller. The subject was armed with a knife at
the time. Taken in the robbery are multiple items that included Cash, glass pipe,
and a large quantity of Cryptonite (Cryptonite is a chemical that is often smoked
to achieve a synthetic high in the same manner as K2 Synthetic Marijuana). The
Adrian Police Department is investigating the case with the assistance from the
Bates County Sheriff's Office.
On 12/20/11, Detectives with the Bates County Sheriff's Office along with
officers from the Adrian Police Department began to review the video tapes from
the Robbery. A lead was developed and a possible suspect was identified.
During the investigation the suspect's location was identified. Investigators from
the Sheriff's Office and Ofc. Dillion surrounded the location and took the suspect
into custody. Some items from the Robbery were recovered at the scene. The
suspect was transported to the Sheriff's Office where an interview was
conducted of the suspect by Sheriff Anderson and Under-Sheriff Moreland.
After the interview the suspect was placed under arrest for armed robbery and
placed into the custody of the detention center.
Charges are expected to be issued on Wednesday. The suspect has no bond pending the issuance of a warrant by the Bates County Prosecutor's Office.
