Correspondence
Funds may be added to an inmate's account in the form of a money orders only. All money orders must be payable to the
inmate. Do not include any correspondence to the inmate in the envelope containing the money order. Please see the complete list
of rules listed below. Mail all money orders to:

Mail that is received addressed any other way will be returned to the sender.
Inmates are allowed to make outgoing calls only. No account setup is required by either party. Phone cards may be purchased, by the inmate, using
our on-hand commissary ordering system.
Rules for Inmate correspondence
- Only post cards will be sent or received (excluding legal mail and money orders)
- Outgoing correspondence will have correct return address (inmate first and last name, Bates County Law Enforcement Center, P.O. Box 60, Butler MO, 64730)
- Outgoing post cards will have proper delivery address (recipient's first and last name and correct street address)
- No post cards will be sent or received with inappropriate signs, pictures, or phrases on them
- Indigent inmates will receive 2 post cards per week
- Legal mail will be inspected for contraband and sealed or opened in presence of inmate
- Inmates who have been released or incarcerated at another facility will have mail returned to sender
- Inmates will not correspond with inmates held in this facility at the same time (unless written permission is granted by Jail Administrator)
- Inmates will not send or receive correspondence with inmates from other treatment, correctional, prison, or jail facilities (unless written permission is granted by Jail Administrator)
- Faxes will not be accepted
- Packages will not be accepted by this facility
